The Oracle 11g Database Administration program delivers knowledge of database installation, management and administration tasks and an understanding of the Oracle database architecture. By earning an Oracle Certified Professional credential, database professionals can accelerate their careers and significantly enhance their professional growth.

An Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) database administrator with the 11g credential has mastered the skill sets needed to address critical database functions such as manageability, performance, reliability, security, and availability using the latest Oracle technology.

This course will teach you to effectively plan, install, configure, administer, query, troubleshoot and manage Oracle Databases. All materials and software are included.

Through this course, students will gain a broad, deep, foundation in Oracle Database planning, design, installation and administration. The course includes modules on SQL query languages and both levels of Oracle 11g certification: Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP). The course will prepare students for the Oracle exams, as well as deliver a solid foundation in the real world application of their database skills.

Students will learn how to:

  • Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure
  • Install and configure Oracle Database 11g
  • Configure Oracle Net services
  • Monitor and administer undo data
  • Manage the database storage structures
  • Create and administer user accounts
  • Perform basic backup and recovery of a database
  • Manage data concurrency
  • Monitor performance
  • Describe Oracle Database Architecture
  • Back and recover a database (and its parts) with RMAN (command-line and Enterprise Manager)
  • Use flashback technology to view past states of data and to revert either objects or the entire database back to a past state
  • Use an appropriate and flexible memory configuration for your database
  • Identify burdensome database sessions and poorly performing SQL
  • Configure the Oracle Database for optimal recovery
  • Configure the database instance such that resources are appropriately allocated among sessions and tasks
  • Schedule jobs to run inside or outside of the database
